Travelling with pets

If you are travelling with a pet all the information you need is explained below.

Bear in mind that travelling with a pet is not the same as travelling with an assistance dog. If you are travelling with the latter, all the information you need is explained in the section on Assistance Dogs.

What pets do we transport?

Any animal on the list of animals permitted on board and which can be carried in an approved pet carrier that is not rigid and that is the following size: 45x39x21 cm and no heavier than 10 kg with the pet inside. Under no circumstances will animals be carried in the plane's cargo hold.

If the pets are cats or dogs, you can carry up to a maximum of 2 in the same carrier, as long as they are of the same species and/or litter and do not exceed the permitted weight and size..

Animals whose special characteristics (unpleasant smell, poor health, inadequate hygiene or violent behaviour) may cause distress or danger to fellow passengers and crew will not be allowed.

Animals permitted on board*

Animals not allowed

Any animal not specified as permitted on this list, whether dead or alive (including rhino horns, ivory products, etc.), may not be transported and will be considered illegal animal trafficking.

*The only pets allowed on flights operated by GetJet or AirHub are cats and dogs.

Requirements and documents

Before you fly, make sure you meet the following conditions and have all the documents you need to fly with your pet:

To find out about specific requirements for other countries (Ireland, flights outside the European Union, etc.), go to the following link. In any case, before travelling, it’s always advisable to check your destination’s specific conditions of carriage for animals, and talk to your vet if you have any questions.

Booking and check-in

To include your pet during the booking process, select the Fly Light fare in the “Customise your flight” section. It will be added to all legs of your booking. If you want your pet to travel with you on only one of the legs (outbound or return), you can do it through our Customer Service Centre (subject to availability) or by making two separate bookings (one per leg). Soon you’ll be able to book this option on our website and app.

If you already have a booking and you want to add your pet, please contact our Customer Services Centre.

Due to the special conditions of your booking, on the day of your flight you must go to the check-in desks to have a seat allocated that suits your needs and get your boarding pass.

Please be advised that passengers travelling with pets are not permitted to sit in the front row (Space One seats) or in seats located next to emergency exits.

Security control

The pet carrier must go through the scanner along with its leash and food, while your pet must go through the walk-through metal detector either in your arms or walking.

In-flight

You must store the pet carrier with your pet inside on the floor or under the seat in front. You must not take your pet out of the pet carrier until you have disembarked.
