PSD2 gives you peace of mind whenever you shop at a European online store.
PSD2 is an EU directive that makes online payments safer for European citizens. The new regulation entered into force in September 2019 and will be phased in gradually in each country in the European Union.
Up until now, you have probably simply entered your credit or debit card details to pay for bookings with us. After PSD2 becomes effective, your bank may use two-factor authentication to complete the payment of your booking or any ancillaries that you purchase. The purpose of this double verification system is to check that the person making the payment is the legitimate account holder.
Your bank will check your identity in two of three ways:
For example, when you pay for flights booked with Vueling, your bank may ask you for a PIN (something you know) through a notification on the app on your phone (something you have).
