About Vueling

Our aircraft

Aircraft, our Vueling stars

The original Vueling fleet consisted of two, fresh-off-the-line Airbus A-320s that were christened “Barceloning” and “Born to be vueling”. The new generation airline began selling air travel on May 16, 2004.

On July 1, 2004, Barceloning flew from Barcelona to Ibiza as Vueling's first commercial flight, with a total 149 passengers. Today our fleet consists of 35 aircraft.

The names we give our aircraft are also a special feature at Vueling. That’s why we have held contests for our passengers to name the airplanes that were about to launch new Vueling routes. Thanks to these contests, our Airbus A-320s have received original, entertaining names like “Veni, vidi, Vueling”, “La vita è Vueling” and “Vueling voy, Vueling vengo”.

Four aircraft bear the names of some very special passengers: “Eloy Fructuoso” (the one-millionth passenger), “Connie Baraja” (passenger 2 million), “Elisenda Masana” (passenger 5 million) and “Carlos Ceacero” (passenger 10 million).
