Vueling, the busiest airline at its Barcelona base, has announced today its membership into the International Air Transport Association (IATA) during the 71st IATA Annual General Meeting in Miami, Florida.
Vueling, the busiest airline at its Barcelona base, will make more than 60,000 flights and 366 routes in the summer season beginning on 15 June, its eleventh. It will offer a total of more than 11 million seats, 13% more than in 2014.
Today the Barcelona-based budget airline Vueling is launching a cooperation project with The Spanish Committee of UNICEF to assist children affected by the massive earthquake that struck the Nepalese capital on 25th April. The airline will donate 10,000 euros to the organisation to relieve the critical situation faced by inhabitants, particularly the children, many of whom lack access to clean drinking water and sanitation, are malnourished, have lost their homes, and whose schooling has been interrupted.
Once again at the head of the technological curve, Vueling has developed a native application for the ‘smart’ Apple Watch, using innovative geo-localisation technology known as “Geofencing” to locate the passenger within the airport, and also giving access to Vueling's ‘Bring your flight forward’ service.
For the sixth consecutive year, Vueling will launch services to several new destinations from Barcelona’s El Prat airport, and this year Africa is a new growth area. Starting on 20 June, Vueling will directly operate regular flights to Rabat in Morocco, Yerba in Tunisia, and Accra, Ghana. The new routes are expected to help meet demand especially from customers at Vueling’s European destinations in the UK and Scandinavia, who can benefit from easy connections via Barcelona to these African cities.
