  • Vueling is World’s First Airline to Use Contactless Technology in its Payment Process App

    Vueling once again leads the pack in technological innovation, become the first airline in the world to implement contactless systems for paying with cell phones. On its app the pioneering Barcelona-based airline has deployed two revolutionary systems —Near Field Communication (NFC), and Scanning— to enable users to automatically enter their personal and credit card data during the purchase process. The two systems are available for telephones using the Android operating system. For security’s sake they are enabled only to fill in the data, but not to complete the purchase. A version for the Apple iOS is initially confined to storing credit card data which can be retrieved only upon detection of the user’s fingerprint when needed for a purchase.

  • Vueling and Qatar Airways signed an interline agreement that will boost flight options at Barcelona – El Prat

    El Prat’s leading airline consolidates its position and bolsters trans-European traffic. This partnership is the first between the two airlines and follows Qatar’s incorporation into oneworld alliance in 2013. Barcelona, September 19th, 2014–. Vueling and Qatar Airways have signed an interline agreement that will enable Qatar’s premier airline to increase the number of passengers to Europe, as well as strengthen Vueling’s Barcelona hub and boost trans-European traffic thanks to long-haul connections. El Prat airport is Vueling’s main hub where the Spanish company has 38% market share, with direct flights to 130 destinations and up to 11,000 connections across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

  • British Airways customers will have access to new destinations and scores more routes when the airline adds its flight code to more than 170 Vueling services

    British Airways customers will be able to book Vueling flights through all BA sales channels, including ba.com, and collect Avios on these bookings. The codeshare routes are largely centred on Vueling’s operation in Italy with 37 international and 11 domestic routes. These include the destinations, new to BA customers, of Catania, Palermo, Bari, Genoa, Turin, Lamezia, Alicante, Amsterdam, Athens, Munich or Dubrovnik. Other new routes on offer through the codeshare include Heathrow to Bilbao and La Coruña, Cardiff to Malaga and Alicante, and Edinburgh to Barcelona. Tickets for the codeshare routes go on sale from 17 June for travel from 24 June, 2014.

  • Vueling to launch Birmingham Barcelona

    Vueling, Spain's leading low cost carrier, will launch flights from Birmingham Airport to Barcelona on 1st June 2015. The airline will start with three flights a week, and grow up to four in August to Barcelona El Prat Airport where it is the leading airline, with almost 40% of the market share. This new service will add an additional 21,600 seats to Barcelona from Birmingham and give passengers a choice of more than 140 destinations on the Vueling network across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Operating 180 seat A320 aircraft, flights will depart from Birmingham at lunchtime and arrive into Barcelona mid-afternoon.

  • Vueling launches two new routes from Brussels to Alicante and Malaga this summer

    Vueling, the leading airline at Barcelona-El Prat Airport, isstrengthening this summer its position in the Belgian market with the launch of two new routes to Alicante and Malaga (Spain). The company announced today at a press conference at Brussels Airport that it has carried more than two million passengers since it first started its flights there in July 2004, initially linking the Belgian capital with the cities of Barcelona and Valencia. The newflights to Alicantewill start on April 24th operating five times a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. On this route Vueling is offering some 39,600 seats between the months of April and October. Furthermore,flights to Malaga, which also start on April 24 with a four times weekly schedule, increasing to five in July during the peak holiday period, add a further 41,120 seats. Overall, Vueling haspledged 80,720 additional seats to the two new routes.
