Travelling to Catania
This beautiful Sicilian city stands at the foot of Mount Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe. Due to Etna's activity throughout history, the island boasts many fabulous beaches of volcanic rock and extraordinary landscapes.
During the day, we recommend visiting the La Pescheria and La Fiera markets, where you can find a vast range of typical local products. And, at night, what better than a stroll around the streets and bars to discover the city's university-oriented night time atmosphere.
In the woods of Carpineto you can visit the “Chestnut Tree of One Hundred Horses”, the largest tree in Italy and the oldest in all of Europe. A little to the north, in Acireale, every February they hold one of the oldest and most exciting carnivals in Italy.
