Ría de Vigo Lookout

The town of Vigo is considered quite a modern town that has managed to maintain its traditions and culture. From the lookout you can appreciate the magnificent views of its monuments and natural landscapes, such as the paradisiacal Cíes Islands and Vigo Estuary.

Monument to the Troubadours

This monument was inaugurated in 2006, in honour of all the poets, singers and troubadours who wrote in Galician. It is an incredible bronze statue of a nymph mounted astride a dragon. The figure sits on a column of polished granite.

Cíes Islands

In the mouth of Vigo Estuary is an archipelago known as the paradisiacal Cíes Islands. In 1980 they were declared a natural park and are a beautiful place to visit. They form part of the Atlantic Islands National Park.

MARCO (Museum of Contemporary Art)

To visit this museum, head for the town centre. It’s curious because in the past it was the town gaol. Later it was transformed into the Palace of Justice and nowadays houses this interesting museum.

Iglesia de María Auxiliadora

The main altar of this church is presided over by the wooden carving of Mary the Helper. This gives its name to the neo-Gothic temple built in 1923. Particularly noteworthy are its ceiling roses, pointed arches and beautiful windows.
