The international airport, Capodichino, is located 8 km Northeast of Naples. By car, take the A2 highway, which exits onto the Naples beltway (tangenziale). The trip lasts 30 minutes; paying the toll is obligatory. We suggest long stay parking (P1) so you can leave your car for more than 4 days. If you prefer a taxi to get around, be sure the taxi's metre is on at the beginning of the trip. The trip lasts 20 minutes and costs approximately 20 €. Another interesting option is to take the local bus; it's the number 14 and it only costs 0, 70 €. You'll also find another bus, the CLP, which takes only 20 minutes and costs 18 €.

Don't miss... in Naples

The city of Naples has many churches, museums, parks, and cultural centres. Here is a small selection of places that caught our eye.

You must visit the Duomo di Napoli, the most important cathedral in Naples. Construction on it began in the XIII century, and you can appreciate its diverse architectural styles. If you like art, you have to see it.

The Castello dell'Ovo (The Egg Castle) is on the islet of Megaride and forms part of the incredible landscape of the gulf of Naples. The legend is that a hidden egg supports the building's structure; that's where it gets its curious name.

Appreciate daily life in the streets of Naples. You can visit the Plebiscito Piazza, one of the biggest and most important piazzas in the city. The piazza forms an ellipse between the Palazzo Reale (Royal Palace) and the Teatro San Carlo.

You can access Subterranean Naples through the San Gaetano piazza. Its interior is full of catacombs and galleries from the Roman era, when saints suffered persecution. Among them, San Genaro is the most famous in the city.

And, of course, you can take a day trip to Vesuvius. It's located in the bay of Naples, and is the only volcano on dry land that has erupted in the last century in Europe. Visually, it stands out in the landscape from the city of Naples.
