Casa AlbertíThe Casa Albertí is a manor house located at Mahón's historical center, built in 1740 and recently refurbished. It maintains all the character of its seniority but also offers all the comodities of its actual reform. The six large rooms, all with bathroom ensuite, are six different worlds. Every one of them has its special charm, and all share the feel of being far away from the rest. A central staircase, full of ligth, its the soul of the house. Around it, not only you find the different rooms but the halls, an agreeable backyard and, on top, a terrace from which you can enjoy a privileged view over Mahón and its portIsabel II, 9
Biniarroca Hotel RuralWe should thank Sheelagh and Lindsay, two artists who purchased this XVI century ranch a few years ago; it is a tiny gem. As you discover the bougainvilleas covering its walls and limestone arches, you will see the care and detail that have gone into it. For the most part, they have only used high-quality materials in its interior, using antiquities originating from Mahón. Farther in to the house, you will find enchanting corners and pleasant surprises: from family heirlooms to spectacular flowers recently cut from the garden. It is recommended for those who want to recharge their batteries in a place that is filled with style. San Luis Son GranotThe Georgian style building, constructed between 1712 and 1756 as a residence for the Scottish military man, Patrick Mackellar, was strategically located on this property for its proximity to the natural port of Mahón and for its fortifications. Its garden is filled with a great number of native plants which give way to fabulous views of the sea. Its wide exteriors contrast with the small and cosy interiors, where you will find rooms decorated in a colonial style with Mexican furniture, and whose names refer to the winds of the Balearic Islands. Carretera Sant Felip s/n Alcaufar VellSurrounded by beautiful beaches with crystal-clear water, this property, originally from the XIV century, surprises you with its old watch tower and its more than100 hectares of land on which to take a stroll. The actual hotel is a neoclassical style manor made of limestone and wide windows which remind you of those from the Belle Époque. Taking a dip in the pool; enjoying a drink from the bar "El Racó del Poeta", and with such a name it seems to just invite you to ponder the marvellous late afternoons; taking a stroll through the pine trees, oak groves and wild olive trees; or tasting the elaborate sobrasada on the property are just a few attractions of Alcaufar Vell. On this same cliff, the oldest part of the city is raised, and it monuments are even more noticeable. Monuments such as the church of Santa María, the neoclassical convent of Carme or the Sant Roc arch, one of the oldest doors of the city and witness to the sacking of 1535 by the Turkish pirate, Barbarroja. But it is at the port and the estuary where you will find the main attractions of Mahón; the fortress of Mola, the remains of the castle of Sant Felip and the fort of Marlborough, which was built by the British.CiutadellaIt was the capital of Minorca until the British moved it to Mahón. Without a doubt, one of the things you must see is the Es Born plaza, an old arms plaza, that houses city hall and two stately palaces that lend their elegance to the city. Something else to see is El Casco Viejo, where the gothic cathedral, aristocratic buildings, and medieval arcades retain the atmosphere of past ages. Another area of great interest is the port, with its bars and restaurants, which is famous for the festivities celebrating the day of San Juan (Saint John). On that day, thousands of people gather around a handful of horseback riders making their horses prance.Barranco D'AlgendarIt is an impressive gorge measuring seven kilometres in length, with walls more than 50 metres high and through which waters runs year round, giving nutrients to the exceptional flora. It is impressive because of the dimensions of the rocks in the walls.
