Flights to Malta

Malta is located in the center of the Mediterranean Sea, the largest of three inhabited islands in the Maltese archipelago, along with Gozo and Comino. Its strategic location has marked the island’s history, characterized by conquests, trade and the influence of different cultures.

Malta is a mystic island, where you can find everything from medieval dungeons to Norman cathedrals. If you prefer, you can stroll the narrow cobbled streets of La Valletta, its capital city, or roam the bays and sea ports along its coastline.

Vueling takes you to Malta for its culture, its climate, and its scenery.

Don't miss...

La Valletta

This is the capital of Malta and is famous as the city of the Order of the Knights of St John. Today we can visit this walled town, built in the 16th century, very well preserved and just the right size for touring on foot in a few hours. Some of its most interesting sites are the Kingsgate, the Auberge de Castille, the Grand Master’s Palace and the Upper Barrakka Gardens.

Medina

This 3,000 year-old city was the political center of Malta. You can find Norman and Baroque buildings here, as well as take a stroll through narrow cobbled streets. The Palazzo Falzon is the best-preserved Norman edifice. Also recommended is a visit to the Sicilian-Norman Cathedral, a Catholic church from the 11th century, located in the main Piazza.

Bahías Dorada y de Gneina

Although the Malta coastline is quite abrupt, lovely beaches can be found. For example, on the northwest coast we find Golden and Gnejna Bays, and in the southeast, St. George’s Bay. The waters are calm, warm and ideal for diving.

Cottonera

Victoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua are The Three Cities which make up Cottonera. Fortified cities built in the 17th century, these are the clearest example of European military architecture.  Quite nearby is the Hypogeum, an underground network of caves, tunnels and rooms, over 4400 years old.

Gozo

Gozo is the Maltese island which offers the loveliest countryside. It has a slower pace and less tourism, but try not to miss it. Victoria is the island’s commercial center and its 17th century origins are still noticeable.  We also recommend following the steps of Ulysses in Calypso’s Cave, or visiting the Ggantija Temples in Xaghra.

Comino

This is the smallest island of the archipelago. Only farmers are living on Comino, although on some occasions we may spot a few curious travelers. Since there is no car traffic, the only possibilities are rock climbing along the coast, or swimming and diving in the bays.
