Airport de Athens
Athens’ national and international airport, Eleftherios Venizelos, is situated in Spata, about 27 kilometres northeast of Athens city centre. Since it started operation in March 2001, it has been classed as Europe’s most modern airport, even winning “European Airport of the Year” in 2004. You can reach the city centre by taxi for about €25-30, but if you’d prefer a cheaper ride, Express bus lines X94, X95 and X96 will take you there for just €3.20. You can also catch a train that connects to the Athens metro.
