Ticket purchases, changes, and conditions
Purchasing at Vueling is as easy as accessing this website. Furthermore, we offer you the maximum security in e-commerce. You just have to follow these steps:
You will receive a confirmation e-mail after making your purchase.
How can I buy a ticket if I don’t have access to the Internet?
You can call our and we’ll make the purchase for you, at an additional cost of €10.
Or you can purchase it at any airport where we have a sales office, with a supplement per person and route.
How can I get an invoice for my purchase?
If you need a purchase invoice for your tickets you can display and request it in the section "Changes and Itinerary".
The pro forma invoice is displayed online.
Your official invoice will be sent by email within a period of 48 hours after having flown the final leg of your booking.
What conditions does the company offer for passengers with special needs?
From 26 July 2008, the provision of an assistance service for disabled and mobility-impaired passengers will no longer be the responsibility of airlines, but that of each airport.
Once you arrive at the airport you must go to one of the meeting points for disabled and mobility-impaired passengers at the airport and request assistance there. The service operators will escort you to our check-in desks. Look at a map of the airport from which your outbound flight is departing to find the nearest meeting point.
Remember that you must be at the Vueling check-in desk 2 hours before your flight takes off.
Can I cancel my ticket purchase?
You can change your ticket up to 2 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure time to ensure no money loss, however you cannot cancel a ticket. This practice is necessary in order to offer you the best prices.
Of course. With Vueling you never lose your ticket money because we have total flexibility.
Our tickets can be changed up to two hours before take-off. You can change the date, time and even the route of your flight. The cost per change is just €39 per leg per passenger. To this cost you should add any difference in the total cost of the flight applicable at the moment the change is made (if the fare available is less on the new flight, no reimbursement will be made). In the case of infant passengers, the flight change fee amounts to 4 euros per route and are not subject to any charge for fare difference. These changes can be made in the section "Changes and queries", or by calling Vueling’s Customer Service Centre.
Change of the ticketholder’s name can only be made through our Customer Service Centre and carries a cost of €50 per leg per person.
Can I take an earlier flight that departs on the same day?
Yes. You can change your flight to another that departs on the same day at absolutely no cost whatsoever, provided there are seats available on the new flight. Check the routes on which this service is available.
To change your flight, you will need to go straight to the sales desk at the airport between 2 hours prior to departure of the new flight and check-in closure (40 minutes prior to departure of the new flight, except Rome, where check-in closes 55 minutes prior to flight departure).
Can I make a connection between two Vueling flights?
Yes. With Vueling, you can book a single journey with a connection in either Barcelona or Madrid in order to take advantage of more options when choosing your destination. What’s more, you can check-in your luggage right through to your final destination.
Can I change the name of the passenger on the ticket?
Yes, you can change the names of ticketholders up to two hours before your flight leaves whenever you have not already flown the first leg of a return airfare.
Change to the ticketholder’s name can only be made through our Customer Service Centre and carries a cost of €50 per leg per person.
Should a higher fare total be applicable at the time of the changes than at the time of the original booking, then the difference will also be added to the aforementioned charges. In cases where a lower fare is applicable at the time of the amendments to the booking, then the difference shall not reimbursed.
Why is it worth getting insurance?
Insurance covers all those unforeseen events that can occur on your trip: illness, loss of or damage to luggage, cancellations, etc. When you take out insurance, you're choosing extra peace of mind in the face of unexpected events.
Furthermore, you can always choose the policy that best adapts to your travel needs: cancellation insurance “My money back”, travel insurance “My great trip”, medical insurance “My health”, luggage insurance “My dear things” and skiing insurance “My skiing trip”.
It's quite simple. We suggest you take out your policy when you purchase your flight. There you'll find two options: the cancellation policy “My Money back” and the travel insurance policy “My great trip”.
If you've already booked and want to get insurance afterwards, you can do that too! In that case we offer you three types of insurance, designed to add more peace of mind to your trip: the medical policy “My health”, the luggage policy “My dear things” and the skiing insurance policy “My skiing trip”.
It's easy. You can do it in the changes section on our website in the Purchase Insurance area.
For any subject related to your insurance, or if you need to get in contact with Europ Assistance, while in Spain you can phone 902 110 495, or if you're outside Spain, phone +34 91 514 00 10.
Where do I pick up my tickets?
Vueling only issues electronic tickets, saving on printing the traditional ticket, in order always to be able to offer you the best prices. For that reason you just have to present the personal documentation you need to travel plus your confirmation number at our airport terminal. (The “confirmation number” is the one you see at the end of your booking, and which we send you with your travel itinerary; it consists of a combination of six letters or numbers).
What happens if I lose my confirmation number?
Vueling’s computer system lets you search bookings according to the credit card number with which you made your purchase, which allows us to guarantee the confidentiality of your booking. So if you call our Customer Service Centre and provide us with this information, we can locate your confirmation number:
Remember that when you arrive at the airport you must present your DNI [National Identity Document] or passport to confirm your identity.
How come I can only find flights for the next 6 months and not after?
Regular airline companies change their schedules twice a year; once in March and once in October. For this reason, we design our route plans, or “Vueling Cities” every six months.
You can purchase with absolute confidence at Vueling because we meet the strictest security conditions existing in electronic commerce, as thousands of customers have already verified without any credit card fraud occurring.
Furthermore, vueling.com is endorsed by Verisign, a world leading company in Internet Security Certificate services. Among the benefits we can highlight:
Can I choose my seating arrangement upon purchasing my ticket?
Yes, Vueling offers all its customers the choice of reserving their seat online at an additional cost. You can also reserve your seat through our Customer Service Centre, or else when you check in at the airport.
¿More space to travel? Fly in XL Seat
In our XL seat you’ll enjoy more legroom, more space to work on your laptop, or to read the paper. Try it for just €12 on domestic flights and €14 on international flights. You can choose your seat on the seating plan when you make your booking or in the “Changes and itinerary” section later. Yet it’s better to book your XL seat when you book because they run out fast! Bear in mind that, for safety reasons, to occupy an XL seat you must comply with certain health and age requirements. During the purchase process we will inform you of the conditions for this seat.
Want to fly in luxury? Choose a duo seat
If you want to fly in extra comfort, the duo seat is the seat for you. In row 1 of the aircraft, you’ll have more space to work or relax in peace and nobody will be in the seat next to you! You’ll also enjoy a free drink and snack during the flight. What’s more, you’ll enjoy absolute freedom in terms of checking in, boarding the aircraft and disembarking in your destination with dedicated check-in desks in Madrid and Barcelona if you need to check in any luggage, preferential boarding at the gate and being among the first to get off! Forget about waiting in line! With the duo seat, the middle seat will be kept empty at all times during the flight. Therefore, a duo seat may not be used by passengers who may occupy a space larger than that of a single seat or who are carrying pets or musical instruments on board, nor for the transportation of hand luggage.
What happens if I buy a Duo seat and somebody sits next to me?
With nobody in the seat next to you, guaranteed!
We’re so convinced of this offer that we promise to return the total amount of the fare you paid (excluding fees) if anyone should need to occupy that middle seat due to exceptional circumstances.
How is the aircraft designed? How are the emergency exit rows designed? How are the rows along the wings of the aircraft?
| Remember that Vueling only operates new aircraft, the latest generation Airbus A320. Furthermore, it’s the first Spanish company that directly allows you to choose your favourite seat. Here you have an aircraft seating plan so you can choose. Remember if you have a ticket and didn’t reserve your seat, or you want to change it, you can do so in the “Changes and itinerary” section. For safety reasons, children under 15, disabled or obese passengers, babies, senior citizens and pregnant women cannot occupy the emergency seats situated in Rows 12 and 14. | ![]() |
Do you reside in the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands or Ceuta?
If you are a resident of the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands or the city of Ceuta you are entitled to discounts. If you wish to have this discount applied, you must activate the check box on the lower part of the flight search page, and select one of the options from the drop-down menu.
You must also show your authorization as resident of the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands or Ceuta at the check-in counter, or the boarding gate if you have checked in online. You can do this by showing either your DNI [Spanish national ID] (as long it verifies your residence in the Balearic Islands or Ceuta), a certificate of residence from your Town Hall, the Tarjeta de Residente or the Credencial de Diputado/Senador.
During the process of your purchase online, you will be asked what type of identification you will present at the airport. Airports & destinations
What documentation should I show at the airport?
National ID or passport. In any case, as indicated in the Conditions of Carriage (points 9.2 and 9.4), the passenger is responsible for being informed as to which documents are needed for travel, according to his or her particular situation. If you have any doubts about which documents are needed, we recommend that you inquire at your country's embassy or consulate.
For more information, see required documents for your trip.
Can I travel with my resident’s card?
You can travel within Spanish territory with a valid resident card issued by a Schengen state.
Should children take forms of identification/documentation?
YES, National ID or passport.
However, minors under the age of 14 who travel within Spanish territory are excused from the National ID or passport requirement, provided they are traveling in the company of at least one adult over the age of 18, who appears in the same booking.
If, on EU flights, a minor under age 18 carries only a National ID (and not a passport), and is traveling alone or accompanied by a person or persons that are not his or her father, mother or legal guardian, the minor is required to carry an official authorization from the latter.
If your child is between the ages of 5 and 11, he or she can travel alone only if you purchase the supplementary service for Unaccompanied Minors (UM). You can sign up for this service on our website when reserving the flight, through the call center up to 24 hours before flight departure, or at the airport offices up to 2 hours before flight departure.
For minors between the ages of 13 and 17, you may optionally sign up for this service, through the call center only.
The Unaccompanied Minor service is available on all domestic and international flights. The cost is 35€ each direction for domestic travel and 55€ each direction for international travel and to the Canary Islands.
You can find all the details about this service at Unaccompanied Minors: conditions of service.
From what terminals does Vueling fly?
Vueling always operates in large airports. To check your destination terminal, click here.
How soon should I arrive at the airport prior to departure?
Check-in counters open 2½ hours before the flight leaves, and they close 40 minutes prior to departure (Except Rome and Saint Petersburg 45 minutes, TEL Aviv 60 minutes and Barcelona destination Tel Aviv: 60 minutes).
You should arrive at the boarding gate 30 minutes before flight departure, as indicated on your boarding pass.
The boarding gate closes 10 minutes before scheduled flight departure. After this time, no passenger will be admitted on board.
Make sure you arrive on time!
Why is it better to check in online?
If you arrive at the airport with your boarding card, you’ll avoid queues. For example, if you’re only carrying hand luggage, you can go directly to your boarding gate. If you have suitcases to check in, the process will be faster.
You can check in online from the exact moment you make your booking as long as you’ve chosen your seat.
You can choose your seat during the booking process, or else later in the Changes and itinerary section and choose a seat online or through our Customer Service Centre.

Baggage
Each passenger may check in up to 23 Kg of luggage at a cost varying between €12 and €17 depending on the destination (this is the maximum permitted check-in weight per passenger, whether it be one item of luggage or several).
It is important that you tell us how many items of luggage you will be checking in during the booking process or by calling the Customer Services Department. Once you get to the check-in desk, any previously unregistered items of luggage will be subject to an additional charge per route per item.
Any luggage over 23 Kg per passenger will be charged at 12 euros per additional Kg to a maximum permitted total of 50 Kg per person. The maximum permitted weight per item is 32 Kg.
How many items of hand luggage can I carry on board?
Finding space in the cabin for a large amount of hand luggage can be difficult, lead to discomfort and delay the flight. If we all follow the rules on hand luggage limits, we can make life easier for everyone on board, improve the level of comfort and reduce boarding times.
You are allowed to carry 1 item of hand luggage with you in the aircraft cabin, which cannot weigh more than 10 kg and may not measure more than 55x40x20 cm. It is also possible to carry one other additional item measuring substantially less than 55x40x20, such as a small briefcase, a handbag, a camera or a video camera.
These limits are subject to available space.
At the boarding gate, hand luggage weight and size will be checked and only those within permitted company limits will be accepted, in other words, within the maximum weight (10 Kg), maximum size (55x40x20 cm) and amount (see the section on hand luggage in our Terms and Conditions of Transport).
Any passenger whose baggage exceeds these measurements will be required to pay € 25 per voyage and item of baggage (card payment only), and their baggage will be checked into the hold of the aircraft regardless of whether or not they have already checked in other baggage item(s).
What happens with hand luggage that does not meet the requirements?
At the boarding gate, hand luggage weight and size will be checked and only those within permitted company limits will be accepted (1 item of hand luggage of up to 10 Kg in weight and measuring no more that 55x40x20 cm).
Any passenger carrying hand luggage that exceeds these limits will be required to pay €25 per route per item of luggage and their hand luggage will be checked in to the hold of the aircraft.
Is it better to check in my luggage via the website or at the airport?
We recommend that you check in your luggage via the website when booking your ticket or that you call the Customer Service Department to inform us of the number of items you will be checking in. It is much more practical and cheaper! When you get to the check-in desk, any previously unregistered luggage will be subject to an additional charge per route per item.
Can I check in bicycles, golf clubs, snowboards surf or windsurf boards?
You can travel with sports equipment like skis, snowboard, golf clubs, bicycle, surfboard, windsurfer and so on, as long as you pay an additional, 45 € charge per item and flight.
Remember that bicycles must be correctly wrapped or packaged for transport (the bicycle dismantled as far as possible, tyres deflated and pedals removed).
(Bear in mind that in the Carriage Conditions, point 8.2. in the section Luggage, we establish that the company has the authority to accept or reject any parcel due to its weight, shape or size).
And what about musical instruments?
You can carry them as hand luggage as long as they don’t surpass the maximum weight of 10kg or the dimensions set for this situation (55Lx40Dx20W).
Guitars, cellos and other musical instruments of a similar size must be checked in, at a cost of €45 per item per journey, and will travel in the hold of the aircraft.
Any passenger who wishes can sign a special declaration of value to insure the instrument.
If any passenger wishes to transport their guitar, cello, or instrument of similar dimensions in the cabin, they must, obligatorily, purchase an additional seat in which to transport it.
Yes. At Vueling, you can travel with your pet onboard just by paying an additional fee and complying at all times with current regulations regarding animal transportation.
For more information about which pet animals are allowed on board, please check the Terms and Conditions regarding the Transportation of Animals. We remind you that passengers are responsible for checking which documents, according to their destination country, their pets need in order to travel.
A maximum of two pets only is permitted onboard per flight.
Flights to or from the United Kingdom or Ireland do not offer the onboard pet service.
What should I do if my baggage is delayed or lost?
You must fill in a Property Irregularity Report (PIR), at your arrival airport to initiate a search. Go to the Lost and Found Office at the airport.
There, they will provide you with a letter containing instructions, explaining what to do from that point. As soon as your luggage is located, you will be notified at the phone number you provided on the PIR.
Your arrival airport will manage localisation of your luggage up to five days (inclusive) after the PIR date. From that date on, our luggage centre will undertake management of the search for and claim of your luggage.

What exactly is a boarding card on my mobile phone?
You can check in without having to print a single document. Furthermore, you’ll save time and avoid queues at the check-in counter.
When you check in online for your flight, check the SMS box and enter your mobile number (you must have a mobile phone that has access to the Internet). You’ll receive an SMS with the information on your booking and a link through which you can access your boarding card. About Vueling
How is Vueling able to provide such great fares?
Vueling, as you know, is a newly created company, which incorporates the latest technological and management innovations to offer you the best prices consistently.
Three aspects are fundamental to our competitiveness:
- Our sales are direct over the Internet or through our Customer Service Centre.
Our aircraft are new, the Airbus A320, incorporating the most efficient designs and materials to reduce fuel consumption and other operating costs.
- Our crews always sleep “on base” (which means, in their own home) which gives us high productivity and few travel costs.
The fare is basically determined by two variables: the amount of time the customer books in advance and the number of seats already booked on the flight.
This generally means that the earlier you buy, the cheaper your flight will be, and that the price of the flight rises as the plane fills up.
Who is behind Vueling? Are they trustworthy?
Since Vueling was founded in 2004, the company has had a core of shareholders comprised of companies of the utmost prestige who backed Vueling’s business plan and work day-in day-out to ensure that the company becomes a clear referent among airlines operating in Europe’s south-east.
Fulfilling a further stage in its evolution, Vueling was floated on the Spanish stock market on 1 December 2006, generating enormous interest among both national and international investors.
Vueling has two important industrial partners, Iberia and Nefinsa (the company that owns Air Nostrum) and a significant local partner, Inversiones Hemisferio, which forms part of the Planeta Group, the largest Spanish-language publisher worldwide.
How can I file a complaint or make a suggestion to improve Vueling?
You can visit the section of our website Contact us.

To make it flying more convenient, your bag will be checked through to your final destination.

At this time, UM service is not available for connecting flights. For this reason, minor children must travel with a companion.

A change of name carries an additional fee of €50 per portion (outbound or inbound). We must add any difference between the original cost and the cost of the changed reservation.
I need a company invoice for one of the two flights, is it possible to get an invoice for the partial amount?
Invoices are issued for the total amount of the reservation. It is not possible to split invoices for portions of the trip or between persons.
